When Edna was young, she didn鈥檛 make the best decisions. School was not a priority. However, it was for her mother.
When her family lived in Mexico, her father paid for her mother鈥檚 education. Unfortunately, when they move to the United States the education she received in Mexico did not translate. It could not help her obtain the job she desired. Instead, to support her family, Edna鈥檚 mother worked two jobs – one cleaning homes during the day and a second cleaning offices at night.
Eventually, Edna鈥檚 mother decided she wanted more than that and so she decided to go back to school. Once again, Edna鈥檚 father felt it was important to support his wife and so he paid for a second education for Edna鈥檚 mother.
In her youth, Edna did not understand her mother鈥檚 desire for an education. Only after Edna grew older did her mother鈥檚 drive truly inspire her. She finally recognized the importance of having an education.
Even though Edna鈥檚 path was not always an easy one, her family鈥檚 unity kept her strong. She took to heart the words her parents taught her: 鈥淭ake a moment, shake the dust off, breath and move on.鈥 So, Edna did just that.
While Edna鈥檚 mother recently passed, her strong presence lives on. Thanks to her positive example, Edna and her family have made amazing strides in their lives.
We鈥檙e proud to support her on her journey, and we鈥檇 love to do the same for you.
